Kaitlin walked through the double doors. Why was there a feeling of deja vu hanging in the crisp morning air?

She glided by the science room. Inside, she could see someone standing at the front, probably giving a speech.

It was eerily silent. Kaitlin was now sure that there was something familiar about all of this. But she just could not figure out what it was.

She passed a few more classrooms, each time taking a moment to look inside them. It seemed as though everywhere she looked kids were enjoying themselves.

Except for the fact that they were all frozen.

She sighed and looked at her delicate silver chain watch. It too was frozen. Kaitlin could not stand when it was even a few seconds off.

Sighing again, she lifted her arm and made a circular motion with her wrist while pinching together her fingers. As soon as that was done, she covered her ears.

She wasn't a moment too soon. Everything suddenly jumped back into action around her. The sounds were slightly delayed, as usual. And, as usual, Kaitlin somehow forgot that again. She cringed visibly. She couldn't stand noise either.

She felt something tap her shoulder. She just continued to stand there, facing forward, frozen in shock. Was it really possible that someone noticed her?

She felt again. Though this time, it was more of a push than a tap.
"Next time someone tells you to move," scolded the boy that had pushed her, "you better move, or else they ain't gonna be so nice," He proceeded to open his locker and fix his collar in his mirror.

Kaitlin speed-walked to the nearest bathroom. She looked at herself in the mirror. She didn't look any different.

So what was it that allowed that boy to see her?

Then she noticed it. A slight change in her necklace. There was a new charm.

For as long as she could remember, she had been wearing this necklace. It was slightly longer than a choker, with many different charms hanging on it.
There were six main ones. There was a ghost, a tiny figurine of a ballerina, a golden lock and key, a broken heart, a roll of duct tape, and a sealed envelope.

Now there was a new one. It was very small, so Kaitlin had to look closely at it. It was another figure, like the ghost and the ballerina. It was a simple human girl figure. It seemed as though she was wearing some type of uniform.
Each charm meant something. It usually took a while, but she figured out for each one what they did to her or for her.

So what did this new charm mean? It didn't really seem to relate to any of the other main charms. Except, maybe...

"Hey!" a cheerleader boomed after bumping into Kaitlin. "You just ruined a two hundred dollar outfit! You're going to pay for this, girl. You hear me?! PAY FOR THIS!!" And with that, the cheerleader stomped out of the bathroom, brushing off her green and white uniform.

Kaitlin groaned. Not only was she still clueless about the meaning of the charm, she was also now hated by two of the most popular people at school.

She slipped out of the bathroom as soon as the cheerleader turned away. She couldn't take her mind off of the new charm...

She decided to ignore it for the time being. Worrying about it would only make it worse. A watched pot never boils, right?

Nobody really seemed to be paying her any attention. By now Kaitlin had sped into an all-out run. She was almost at the doors...

Kaitlin's heart stopped.
